Why I Failed At Blogging The First Time

About 2 years ago, I started a blog about beauty, makeup, fashion and all that girly stuff. I knew a lot about that kind of stuff and I enjoyed doing it, so I thought it was the perfect fit for me.

We all have our dreams, what we know we love and have talent with. I do love makeup, I do know a lot about it, but makeup was never my dream. I knew that, but in my head it was so easy to write about makeup.

I was so wrong. I fell right on my face after 3 short weeks. I didn’t come into blogging with the right attitude, I thought I knew everything there was to know and it was going to be so easy.

I think that’s where a lot of people go wrong with blogging. It is not easy. You have to be determined, you have to have passion for what you are writing about, and most of all, you cannot write for yourself. Blogging is one of the most selfless things you can do, honestly. Regardless of paychecks, bloggers spend countless hours and so much time on their websites, blogs, social media accounts etc. to help other people, putting themselves out there and opening up in different ways, and that takes so much strength and ambition.

Enter the world of blogging with motivation, a tough heart, and patience.

Think of your goals, push yourself as hard as you can, keep taking those free courses and reading articles daily, taking notes on everything you can.

And if you get rejected, and you will, don’t think you’ve failed. That’s just a step on your way to the top. Try harder, look into why you got rejected and work towards making it better.

I failed at blogging whenever I was 18 years old, after 3 weeks of being a ‘blogger’ because I wasn’t passionate about what I was writing, because I wasn’t ready to take on rejection, and because I thought it was going to be a piece a cake.

And I got a huge slap in the face.

I’m not telling you it’s impossible, or trying to scare you out of becoming a blogger.

I’m giving you the cold truth, because I wish someone would have given it to me 2 years ago.
